What is a leased line?

A leased line is a symmetric telecommunications line connecting two locations. It is sometimes known as a 'Private Circuit' or 'Data Line'. Unlike traditional PSTN lines it does not have a telephone number, each side of the line being permanently connected to the other. Leased lines can be used for telephone, data or Internet services. Some are ringdown services, and some connect two PBXes.

How does it work?

Approved Telecom will supply either a direct local access circuit or may use another telecommunications provider to supply a dedicated point-to-point circuit between your office and the nearest Approved point of presence. This circuit acts as your own dedicated pipe to the Internet. The circuit is fully monitored 24x7 by both Approved Telecom and the access circuit provider to ensure it is available for your business at all times.

Approved Telecom will provide you with a managed Cisco 2600 router or equivalent router and deliver the service to you as Ethernet to plug directly into your firewall or LAN.
